Hi Wes, There are several guys who make them; I think these are Barry Posners work. From what I understand, you begin with a hollow tube of brass, nickel silver, stainless, etc., and then pack the tube with different materials (rods of copper, brass,etc.) to give the pattern. Any leftover space is usually filled with some kind of epoxy. I buy them in 1 foot rods, and them Dremel cut them according to size, insert them into the tool, and then grind them flush:)
Ooh I've wondered what those were too. Would be cool if the epoxy could be mixed with glow stuff so you'd get a glow pattern, one of them might look a little like a radiation symbol! :)
